Preparing Ourselves

Here are a few things to keep in mind as we prepare to walk into this new season of our lives. A strong revival is coming, & it’s going to shake this world. Get ready!

1. Accept the Challenge

As you may know, there have been several things happening throughout society that would lead one to question the influence of Christianity in today’s culture. As believers, it is our duty to accept this current state as a challenge, so that we can fulfill the Great Commission that was given to us by Jesus Christ. It challenges us to be all that we can be in living Holy Spirit-led lives. It is the key to living — really living. It is the difference between simply existing & living fulfilled lives. The Apostle Paul expressed this difference by openly stating, “I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given to me — the task of testifying the gospel of God’s grace.” (Acts 20:24)

2. Accept Criticism

Personally, I would consider myself as a very outgoing person. I hold a high value for people and relationships, which made it really difficult for me to understand that everyone isn’t going to always love you. In fact, if we are properly living how Christ wants us to live, we will even be hated. Mark 13:13 states that we will be “hated by all because of his name.” With this is mind, it is vital for us to carry extreme confidence in who we are, & in our faith, because persecution  simply comes with the territory. In fact, 2 Timothy 3:12 states, “all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.” Think about it, if even Jesus was persecuted, what makes you think that we as believers won’t? So be prepared for it when the time comes, and walk boldly in who God has called you to be.

Preparing the Church

One of my favorite examples in the bible shows us how we can approach experiencing a great revival. Let’s look at 2 Chronicles 7. Solomon, who was a son of David, was widely known as one of the most successful kings  in Israel’s history. After building a new temple, the Lord gave Solomon a promise. He states, “if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14 ESV) From here, we are given the three steps to experience a spiritual revival.

1. Humility“if my people who are called by my name humble themselves”

God is simply asking for us to take our own pride aside.

2. Prayer“pray and seek my face”

I think we all have experienced ordering at a fast food restaurant. In the drive thru, if we don’t ask for what we want, how will we ever get our meal? But here’s the catch! Not only does God tell us to pray, but he also tells us to “seek his face.” This means to truly create a relationship with him by consistently getting to know him.

3. Repentance“turn from their wicked ways”

God isn’t expecting us to be perfect. He desires for us to have a genuine relationship with him. He wants us to be completely transparent, so don’t be afraid to openly confess your sins to him, so that he can express his grace and forgiveness.
Turning away from sin is essential to experiencing the presence of God, & also remaining in his presence. We cannot come into the presence of a God who is holy in our own righteousness.

God tells us that if we do those things, in return, he will forgive our sins & heal our land. Are you ready?

Random bible verse

But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.
